Th Defence Industries Commission announced to start new project of making small arms and light weapons. The Commission's Technical department manager Mustafa Atti stated that " the Commission's president Mohamed Sahib AlDaraji confirmed the start of light weapons production in which considered the first project the Commission took over under technical department supervision". Mustafa Atti also said  " this project aims to provide light weapons for armed  and security forces as an investment project under the financial investment budget of 2021-2022.
